GBCE offers its members and the Gorham Community:Monthly Meetings
The Exchange meets monthly from September through June. The meetings rotate between early morning, luncheon, and after business hours.
- Bagels & Business Breakfast Meetings - Opportunity for networking combined with informative programs covering matters of particular interest to business owners.
- Lunch and Learn Meetings - Networking combined with topics related to business & civic programs.
- After Hours Receptions - Social networking for members to meet as neighbors and to exchange business ideas in a casual, unstructured atmosphere.
Gorham Business Directory
A great benefit of membership in GBCE is the opportunity to advertise your business in the annual Gorham Business Directory. Starting in 2010, only GBCE member businesses will be listed in the directory. Also, only GBCE member businesses will be able to purchase display ads in the 2010 directory - which will have a 50% greater circulation than in years past.
As before, the 2010 directory will be an attractive 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 full color booklet that also includes important information about the Town of Gorham. If you would like to purchase a display ad in the Gorham Business Directory 2010, please review the rate sheet and registration form and return by Feb. 15, 2010.
Gorham Marketplace
Each spring, GBCE holds the Annual Gorham Marketplace at USM's Costello Field House. This event draws thousands of shoppers who come to see goods and services offered by member businesses.
Business Person of the Year
Each spring, GBCE presents this prestigious award to a deserving Gorham business person who has been selected through a nominating process in accordance with specific criteria. The award is presented at the June After-Hours Reception.
Annual Golf Tournament
At the end of June, GBCE holds an annual golf tournament at Gorham Country Club nicknamed “Fore a Scholarship.” Members and guests take part in a friendly golf competition and barbecue. Proceeds benefit GBCE’s Scholarship Fund.
Burn Off the Turkey 5k Road Race
The GBCE collaborates with the Gorham Recreation Department to coordinate this popular annual 5K Road Race. Proceeds benefit a variety of civic projects in the Gorham community.
Scholarships
GBCE offers two scholarships to Gorham students graduating from high school. One scholarship is presented to a student pursuing a degree in business. The other is presented to a student who has shown an outstanding interest in civic affairs.
